Unreality TV — Katie Waissel decided to take her performance more seriously on tonight’s X Factor show.
Instead of a quirky light hearted number, the 24 year old took on the gutsy ‘Don’t Speak’ by No Doubt for her American Anthem.
Of her song choice, mentor Cheryl Cole said:
“This week I’ve chosen a far more cool song for Katie.â€
Styled to look incredibly like Gwen Stefani, Katie emerged with BIG hair and skintight leather trousers. Her performance wasn’t awful, it wasn’t brilliant. It was all a bit blah. We loved the footage playing on the screen behind her, it looked like Katie’s very own music video but that was the best bit of the song for us. Waissel wasn’t at all memorable tonight, she could very easily end up in the bottom two tomorrow….again!
Louis Walsh: I like that you’re a fighter. That was a brilliant performance, I love the image and I’d like people to give you a chance and judge you on your vocal ability, not the silly stories in the press.
Dannii Minogue: Katie I think for me I didn’t connect with that. It seemed like you were thinking about the performance and where you were moving. I think everybody’s full of nerves and I feel you perform better when you fight on your save me song.
Cheryl Cole: I love that about you. You are a fighter, eccentric, you are a drama queen but it’s all part of what I love about. I want to thank you because you absolutely are strong.
Simon Cowell: Katie it kind of fell apart in the middle. The vocals went off, it looked like you were struggling. I loved the staging, the look and the fact that you’re not a whinger. You come back battling every week and that’s what every great recording artist needs.
