Tony Sounds Off On School Lunches

In honor of National School Lunch Week, Tony (among other celebrites) had written a congratulatory letter to The Active Learning Academy PS 244Q in New York, whom recently had been acknowledged for offering their students healthy menu options, including a new vegetarian menu which he pointed out.

Tony expressed his hope and sees an opportunity for more schools to follow their direction by offering better choices for students.

It’s awesome to see him getting recognized for his political voice and we hope even more awareness is raised.

CBS News — Michelle Obama isn’t the only high-profile figure devoted to America’s school lunch programs.

In celebration of National School Lunch Week, stars including Olympian Mary Lou Retton, “The Big Bang Theory” cast member Mayim Balik and No Doubt’s Tony Kanal sent congratulatory letters to The Active Learning Academy PS 244Q in Queens, N.Y., for winning the 2013 Golden Carrot Award. The honor is given to schools offering healthy menu options.

Kanal, a noted vegan and father of a two-year-old girl, was equally impressed.

“Ever since I learned a school in our nation had adopted a vegetarian menu I have been filled with hope,” he said. “I know other schools now see an opportunity to follow your lead.”
