Everyone at Beacon Street Online would like to congratulate and wish No Doubt a very happy 12th anniversary to the band’s fifth album, Rock Steady.

Rock Steady came out on this day back in 2001 and peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. The album spawned many fan favorites and successful hits for the band including “Hey Baby”, “Hella Good”, “Underneath It All” and “Running”. The album has sold over 3 million copies worldwide and earned No Doubt two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (both for “Hey Baby” and “Underneath It All”.)

The album spawned two successful US and world tours and Rock Steady Live was released shortly after on DVD. Rock Steady was such a huge and successful time for the band. It was the first time No Doubt had written and recorded outside of Los Angeles, collaborated with other artists and producers and explored many new sounds. The album won No Doubt their first Grammy Awards (they were also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2003).

What was your favorite song from the album?

  1. Don’t Let Me Down followed very closely by Underneath It All.
The one I could never get my head around was Waiting Room I really don’t like that song at all. Although I would like to have heard the original version before Prince got hold of it and changed it.

  2. I have very vivid memories of picking this up at midnight at wal mart, day of release and getting high as fuck and listening to this bad boy. Such a beautiful album. Making Out is so good it should be illegal.
