  1. Better than “Settle Down” by far, but still quite mediocre. The lyrics also really stink. That yoga part. Ugh.

This is like a Gwen Stefani solo song. It’s so synthed out, poppy, and the background music hardly plays into it at all.

I am heavily disappointed that this album will just be “Rock Steady” v. 2.0.

  2. I really like it but I can see how some fans who want something more like 1990’s ND would be turned off by the lyrics and the productions values. There are two versions of this song they had to choose from and I’m assuming the other version has more of a live band feel to it… But yeah as someone who became a fan with TK I still love this. If you don’t there will hopefully be other songs on the album you can really get into.

  3. I wonder why they cut these lyics?

    SMOKE INA DE PLACE
    MI A DEFEND MI SPACE
GIVE MI FOOD FOR MI PLATE
    MI NO TAKE TALK
    STRAPPED JUST IN CASE
    ANYBODY VIOLATE

    CAUSE ME SQUEEZE FAST
IF A HIGH GRADE WEED ME PROVIDE IT
COPS DEM SEARCH DEM NEVER GONNA FIND IT
HUSTLIN’ IN THE STREET, DE TURF AND DE LANE
NO BEG NOBODY, NUTTIN’ ME NO JOIN IT
    TOUCH DE ROAD AT NIGHT
MAKE MONEY AND MI FEEL ALRIGHT
GHETTO YOUTHS HUSTLE, HUSTLE AT IT
SHINE LIKE THE STADIUM LIGHT, YEAH
    GO FI WHATEVER YOU WANT
NO MEK NOBODY TELL YOU SAY YOU CAN’T
GHETTO YOUTHS SET DAT, GET DAT, TEK DAT
GO FI DE FOOD, NO MEK IT PASS
    HUSTLE 9 TILL 5
    CAUSE MI HAFFE SURVIVE
GO HARD, HARDER THAN DE HARD DRIVE

  4. I love this! Just wish the quality was better without the annoying “Ryan Seacrest world premier” blaring in during the horns. Can’t wait for the album version.

  5. OH GOSHHHHHHH!!!
I’m in cardiac arrest, you have NO IDEA!!!!!
    Finally, this has EVERYTHING i was waiting for this era… 😀 😀 😀 😀
I’m beaming with with happiness, gosh…

  6. Not feeling it. Feels like 2 different songs and doesn’t flow. Was hoping for more ska/rock. Disappointed and after this and settle down my excitement for the new album has diminished.

  7. It’s a cool song, I like it that they tried something so different and risky, but I think it isn’t radio-friendly. And the lyrics are reeeally weak shallow… :/ Then again, so were the Hey Baby and Hella Good lyrics…

  8. I’m really surprised at the negativity here! I FLIPPED when I heard it, and I’m a pretty tough critic. Say what you will about Settle Down, but this one has way more of a reggae feel than SD. As I was talking to George about – the reason it feels like “2 different songs” is because it’s a “push” and “shove” between old and new – it’s very classic-ND but still pushes boundaries. Geeeeet ittttt? 😉

  9. I agree with Arthur. I mean its good but good is not good enough. Lets face it without the promotion of lady gaga settle down would not of even cracked the top 40 and it still dissapointed. I really hope this will not be released as a single because it is not radio friendly and will not fo too well on the charts. It sounds like two different songs! Overall I give it a 3/5.

  10. UH-MAY-ZEENG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the EFF is wrong with some of you??? Why would No Doubt NOT make music for today??? It’s NOT 1992 anymore!!!!!!!!!!!! If you ONLY like the ska brand you would NOT even like ‘Tragic Kingdom’!!!!!!!!!!!! They EVOLVE and GROW and MORPH along with the scene!!!!!!!!!!!! This song is EPIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!!!!!!!!!! ‘SETTLE DOWN’ IS EPIC. Seriously, what is WRONG with you people stuck in the medieval times, you must all be Republicans!

  11. It is a good song, not an amazing song though. I kinda agree with the comments above that this may not fare well on radio play or on the charts. I do like it, reminds me of Gwen’s solo career. The last part of the song is my favourite, for some reason I thought of “The Sweet Escape”. I do prefer “Settle Down” but I do enjoy this one too!

  12. After being woken to MTV playing Hey Baby (I know MTV playing music, odd) I have to say it has that make you dance vibe. Like Settle Down I dont see it being played well live BUT it still makes me want to dance…so its got that dancehall thing down. ND is now more pop then we all want to admit. It fits nicely to where critics place them and where music expects them to be, yet with it still feeling like a No Doubt song.

  13. Ive only listened two it twice, half asleep mind you, and I have to say that I do really like it; it will grow on me more. But, I do have to say that I really wish it was less electronic. I think if it were the negative comments on this page wouldn’t exist. Either way, good song, I prefer Settle Down, at the moment. BUT, I do think this song has potential to be INCREDIBLE live. I was expecting to hear more of the drums that we did during the webisode, which brought me to tears!! Overall, I like it right now. Still super excited for what’s to come 🙂

  14. No pun intended but I think people need to settle down and be happy and excited for the new music! I think push and shove is CRAZY GOOD! They needed to bring their music into the present and I give them mad props for changing things up!!! So happy to have new No Doubt PERIOD!!! Can’t wait for the album!

  15. Who gives a shit if it does well on the radio or not. I’d much rather ND take risks and produce good music that isn’t radio friendly than mainstream crap that is.

  16. I’m disapointed. The lyrics kinda suck… But then again, it’s the radio edit version so it’s like only half the song and the quality is quite mediocre. I guess I’ll like it better on the album, but I still wished for way more than this.

  17. Well I’m in love now. First time I heard it I liked it but was also not completely sure about it. Now after like 20 times… yeah I’m in deep with this song. I can’t wait to hear a high quality version of the longer version of the song.

  18. I’m an old no doubter and definitely miss the sounds of beacon street collection, tragic kingdom, and return of saturn… those are the songs that made me fall in love with the band. In general I don’t listen to a ton of pop, more alternative and indie stuff, so the new material isn’t really my taste. Push and Shove definitely isn’t my favorite ND song of all time, and I probably won’t obsessively listen to it on repeat, but I DO really like it and will be buying it as soon as it’s on iTunes.

Regardless, I’m psyched for new No Doubt!!

  19. i’m so glad i’m not the only one who isn’t feeling this song. newsflash: not everyone is going to like this song. i’ve been a fan of no doubt since i was 9, that’s 17 years. while this isn’t the first song of theirs that i don’t love, this IS the first time i’ve ever had this ‘what the hell is this shit’ reaction to a song of theirs. to those saying that those of us who don’t like it means we are less of a fan – stop that shit. it’s ridiculous. just bc it’s no doubt doesn’t mean we have to like it. this song is NOT ska or punk regardless of what the band says or what anyone else says… hell this is barely dancehall. gwen’s solo music was better than this. i don’t know WHAT this is but it is not what i was anticipating and my expectations for the new album have seriously diminished.

  20. I have to agree with Natalie on this one. I have been a fan since 1995 and I have a huge admiration for the band, but so far these 2 songs have been incredibly underwhelming. Settle Down is ok but it’s not a song I will ever listen to outside of hearing it on the radio. Push & Shove on the other hand will definitely have to grow on me. When I first heard it, I was like WTF. I really hope the rest of the album is not like this.

  21. I’ve been listening to it over and over again for the last hour trying to get a feel for it. I’m looking forward to hearing the album cut. I can see why Tony says it’s their Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s like two different songs mashed together. I like the chorus a lot and the end of the song. I agree that the lyrics suck. I am curious how they are going to do this live. It kind of seems like solo Gwen meets No Doubt. The more I listen to it, the more I like it though. I’m also doubtful this will be a radio hit. And for those saying “who cares” if ND have a hit, don’t you want them to be successful? If they get a hit, that means we’ll be seeing them in a lot more in magazines, bigger tours, tv, interviews, etc. Hits are good.

  22. adaquate rhyhm, adaquate lyrics [barley understandable] i am one of those fans whom is so happy to have them back sometimes there not so good songs cloud my judgement because i am so biass towards them. personally after being away for so long they have to come back with alittle more of a punch.

  23. I think I’ll get into it, when listening over and over again. it’s the same as with settle down. at first I didn’t knew what to think of it, but then it started to flow… 🙂

  24. Damn, this is something I’ve never heard before…all those different rhythms…I LOVE IT! I’m very thankful that they’ve risked to sound different …that’s actually one fact why I love ’em so much…they always try to create something new 🙂

  25. I like it. Like anything else, it’ll take some time for it to grow on some. But overall, its got a good beat, very up to date, risky, but I think this album is gonna pull it off once AGAIN!! So all of you harsh little critics need to SETTLE DOWN, and wait to see them perform it LIVE!!! AND YOU KNOW you’ll be screaming off the top of your lungs as soon as they hit the stage in ffron of you!!!!j OMG I CANT WAIT!!! =)

  26. This album is going to be a magical blend of Gwen’s solo albums and ND’s. Push and Shove single is OFF THE HOOK! Eff the haters.

  27. After listening to the track about 25 times I must admit it’s not my new favorite song of the year. I agree with the comments above and on other sites that it does sound like multiple songs and it’s kind of too much. I love No Doubt and want to like the song, but I do hope the album is different and this isn’t the best track.

  28. it’s AWESOME and fresh and different from everything they’ve ever done. if you want something like BC than you should listen to BC. LOVE IT.

  29. can’t say that i love it :-/ i hear two different songs in one…sounds like a mess. however, i did fall in love with settle down, so i still have hope for the album! please ND don’t let us down!!!!

  30. I take my comment back. I just purchased the Itunes version and it makes more sense and sounds 10000x better in my opinion. I knew there was no way I could be so bummed about new ND. xoxox

  31. Album version = 1000000000x better!!! They never cease to amaze me. Still wish I could hear Adro’s drums more…. This is going to rock so HARD live!

  32. I think this song has one of the catchiest chorus’s they’ve ever done. Where in the rule books does it say a song cannot sound “like two different songs?” Personally, I will be a fan of ND no matter what. I am just glad to hear some new music again and I appreciate them doing something different-something you don’t hear on the radio now.

Super excited for the release date!
