No Doubt Performed First Live Show Back In 1987 Today

On this day, March 14 1987, No Doubt performed their first live gig at Fenders Ballroom in Long Beach, California. No Doubt played along side 14 other bands including The Untouchables, Instep, The Crooks, The Upbeats, The Subways and more. Above is the actual poster from the Scooterville Live Aid show! They are such an incredible live band and we cannot wait for another 24 years of shows! Thank you No Doubt for all that you have given us fans since 1987 and we are so excited for the new eras!

After several raucous party performances, No Doubt play their first “official” gig at Fender’s Ballroom in Long Beach, California; the band was second on a bill of 14 with The Untouchables headlining. Tony, a high-school junior, was one of several hundred people watching. Shortly thereafter, he tries out. Band accepts him even though he’s never been in a band, has long hair and is wearing Mexican sandals. By the summer, Tony, an organized perfectionist, becomes the band’s unofficial manager.

  1. Wow, next year it’s going to be their 30 year anniversary. Crazy.

I was at that very first show in Fender’s Ballroom. In fact, that’s my flyer that you have in the article (it’s not a poster). The bottom corners tore off while I was taking it down from my bedroom wall—along with all my other mod/ska flyers—to put into storage. Glad I held onto it after all this time.
