This is so awesome! New Jersey music school School of Rock Montclair (obviously in Montclair, NJ!) is offering a class this summer for kids that is heavily inspired by No Doubt and the 90’s So Cal sound! The other classes they offer sound awesome as well and it’s so great that young kids get to be exposed to such great music and, even better, learn how to play it!

Barista Kids — School of Rock Montclair will offer four very cool performance programs this summer for its enrolled students. Rehearsals for the programs will begin at the end of June and will continue through the end of September, when the students will perform their shows at area venues.

“In addition to having their weekly one-on-one lessons with our professional staff, the young musicians in our performance programs also rehearse their repertoires for three hours each week,” says Maurice Watson, general manager of School of Rock Montclair. “The hard work always pays off with amazing, two-hour concerts that blow away friends, family, and even the kids themselves.”

The themes for this summer’s performance programs are tributes to the following:

Orange County – Featuring energetic rock/reggae by some of the best bands from Orange County, CA, including No Doubt/Gwen Stefani, Rancid, Sugar Ray, Sublime, and others.

Rage Against The Machine – Featuring bold rap/rock from one of the most important 90s bands that carry influences of grunge, hip-hop, and classic rock.

The Deftones – Featuring the Sacramento, CA alt-rock band’s unique blend of rock, reggae, metal, and hip-hop.

The Sounds of Woodstock – Featuring performances from the original 1969 line-up – with several songs from the ’94 and ’99 concerts included – by such bands as Santana, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Band, and many more.
