“Don’t Speak” On Entertainment Weekly’s List Of Unbelievable Grammy Losses

We couldn’t agree more! Entertainment Weekly has put together a list of of unbelievable Grammy Award losses and No Doubt is included with their nomination for “Don’t Speak” for Song of the Year in 1998. No Doubt eventually lost to Shawn Colvin’s “Sunny Came Home”. We agree how crazy it is to think back about how massive that song was (and still is!) and how it lost. Time eventually came for the band to win in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

EW — Like some of the other awards on this list, it certainly seemed like a good idea at the time. But in retrospect, it seems crazy that one of the definitive tunes of the late ’90s (and Gwen Stefani’s breakout moment) lost a Grammy contest to a piece of Dawson’s Creek strum-and-feel-bad campfire rock.
