No Doubt receive Keys to the City of Anaheim (November 22)
A.K.A. No Doubt Day
Anaheim, California

The City of Anaheim will recognize some favorite sons and a daughter on Friday when Mayor Tom Daly presents the locally-grown, world-famous Interscope Records recording artist No Doubt members with ceremonial keys to the city.

The Mayor’s presentation of the keys will take place at Disneyland during a promotion with Los Angeles-based KROQ-FM (106.7) radio personalities Kevin and Bean, who are hosting a listener event, “KROQ’s Breakfast with No Doubt,” during their morning drive-time show. During the event, fans in attendance will be able to ask questions of the band members and hear an intimate live performance before spending the day at the theme park.

Several members of No Doubt, which includes vocalist Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bass player Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young, were raised and went to school in Anaheim. Their second album, The Beacon Street Collection (1995), is named after the house on Beacon Street in Anaheim where several of the band members lived. Their third album, Tragic Kingdom (1995), playfully mocks the Disneyland theme park, known to many as the “Magic Kingdom.”

Official Gwen Stefani Day (October 30)
San Diego, California

After donating the proceeds from her October 30 San Diego concert to victims of the California wildfires, Gwen Stefani was honored by the city. October 30 was named “Gwen Stefani Day” and the singer received a proclamation.

Over $165,000 in proceeds from the concert was donated to The San Diego Foundation Fire Relief Fund. As a result, the Gwen Stefani After-the-Fires Scholarship fund was created for high school seniors and college students who lost their homes and/or source of income during the disaster. In May, Gwen met with the 16 recipients of the scholarships.

“When the fires happened and we decided to donate the San Diego show proceeds to charity, it felt good to know that I could help in some way,” said Stefani, who surprised the crowd by personally presenting the scholarships to the recipients. “To be able to meet these kids and see that the scholarships are having such an impact on their future is very rewarding. It was an exciting day.”
