Congratulations, Gwen! Her new solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Gwen has made history and marks her first time at the top spot as a solo artist and her first appearance since hitting the #1 spot with No Doubt and Tragic Kingdom in 1996-1997. Billboard reports Truth sold an impressive “84,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 24” according to Nielsen Music and out of that, over 76,000 were based on true album sales (and this is just in the US). For those that have been following, the album has been on top of the iTunes chart worldwide and her exclusive deluxe edition has been flying off the shelves at Target stores all over.
Though the chart will make it’s impact for the new week on Tuesday (March 29), Truth is now Gwen’s highest debut ever and her last two solo albums peaked at #3 with The Sweet Escape in 2006 (243,000 in first week sales) and #5 with Love.Angel.Music.Baby. in 2005 (309,000 in first week sales). Truth is set to debut on Spotify on April 1 which seemed to pay off in more physical copies being sold. Billboard points out that Gwen is only one of five female solo artists that have debuted at the #1 spot outside of their band and/or group.
Gwen also made notable debuts in Taiwan at the #2 spot and reaching #3 in Canada.

We’re truly excited and proud of Gwen for this massive accomplishment. Truth deserves all the success and accolades it’s received since it is such an incredibly personal and well produced album that stands out as some of Gwen’s best work to-date. We also want to thank all of the fans for going out and buying the record (and her team for putting together a lot of special goodies for us to be excited about!) Keep streaming and supporting Gwen since it’s her time to shine again! Hopefully with the love and success for the album, it can only mean good things for Gwen (and possibly a tour!)

Another accomplishment! Congrats Gwen!
Guys! I have to tell you. Me and my boyfriend and best friends went to the local gay club tonight. There’s three tiers – and we go up to the top one to buy drinks and go to the bathroom. When we went up – they were playing This is What the Truth Feels Like!!! It started with Rare, and then Red Flag, and then Misery. I was freaking out!!! 🙂
She should release next single asap – WWIB/YMF or Rare. And what is the most important: create a great and modern video – but please no Sophie Muller!!!! Great video nowadays = huge hit!!!!
Do it like in LAMB era!!
