This Is London — Gwen Stefani’s marriage with Gavin Rossdale “hasn’t been the easiest journeyâ€.
The No Doubt singer has been with the Bush musician for 14 years and she is “proud†of that “accomplishment†because of the revelations that have rocked their union.
Gwen – who has two sons, Kingston, four, and Zuma, two, with Gavin – told Elle magazine: “I’ve been with Gavin for 14 years, and, let’s face it, that is a huge accomplishment.
“I feel so proud of that – it hasn’t been the easiest journey.â€
It emerged in 2004 that model Daisy Lowe is Gavin’s daughter from a relationship he had with her mother Pearl Lowe in the late 1980s. He had been her godfather prior to being told of his paternity.
Last year, the 45-year-old musician finally admitted to having a homosexual affair with gender-bending British pop star Marilyn in the same decade when he was in his late teens.
Speaking about his sexuality, Gavin – who had refused for years to comment on Marilyn’s claims they had a relationship – said at the time: “I think at the outset there was a sort of fear – that was right at the beginning of Bush, and I didn’t want it to be part of it.
“I’ve never wanted to appear closed about it. It’s not something I’ve talked about really because it’s always been in the glare of a tabloid world. It’s just one of those things – move on.
“When you’re 17, Jesus Christ, I don’t think there’s anything strange about any form of anything – you’re learning about life. It’s a part of growing up. That’s it. No more, no less.â€
ELLE UK has also posted an excerpt from the interview with Shirley Manson on their website! She discusses what her favorite outfit from a video (the polka dot dress in “Don’t Speak”!) and more.
Elle UK — Gwen Stefani isn’t afraid of hard work. With two decades in the music industry, more than 40 million album sales worldwide, a Screen Actors Guild nomination, a clothing line (LAMB) and a successful fragrance to her name, you might think that she’s all about the career, but she also holds down a successful marriage to fellow musician Gavin Rossdale and somehow finds the time to raise their two young sons. Always stylish and immaculate, she tells ELLE what drives her. The Interview
Who better to interview Gwen Stefani than her close friend Shirley Manson? The singers met in the early 1990s when No Doubt and Garbage regularly played gigs together, and they have been friends ever since. The two sit down for the interview in the Stefani/Rossdale house high in the Hollywood Hills. Gwen’s been at a friend’s baby shower and is feeling relaxed after a couple of glasses of wine. Her blonde hair is pulled back with a slight quiff, she’s wearing her trademark scarlet lipstick, loose-fitting black trousers, high-heeled boots and a black silk blouse with thin yellow stripes. Over a ‘proper cup of tea’ (Shirley’s words) they recollect the early days when they were the girls on the music scene, talk about staying in shape, fashion and Gwen’s never-ending wardrobe.
In her words:
Gwen on what drives her: ‘I think of myself as really lazy. My ideal day would be to never get out of bed. No one can force me to do something unless I’m passionate about it.’
On make-up: ‘I wear make-up every single day; I like to wear make-up for Gavin and I don’t feel energised till I’ve put it on, then I’m ready to go.’
On her toned body: ‘It’s a daily struggle. I work out five days a week. I can’t imagine not doing it.’
On marriage: ‘I’ve been with Gavin for 14 years, and, let’s face it, that is a huge accomplishment. I feel so proud of that – it has’t been the easiest journey.’
On modesty: ‘I have this real masculine-feminine thing: I’m not really that sexy – I get all made up and then I like to be a tough girl. I didn’t even wear high heels until I was in my thirties! To me, [stripping off] is so boring.’

Coco’s Tea Party — The issue hits newsstands tomorrow (I still haven’t got my subs copy – boo) and in the meantime there is a behind-the-scenes video that you can watch at elleuk.com.
UPDATE: I’ve just been sent an exclusive preview of Gwen’s interview, conducted by her best friend, Garbage singer Shirley Manson, here are a few of the best bits:
Shirley Manson: You’ve always been very careful about the way you’ve used your body, right?
Gwen Stefani: There are certain artists I think I like, but then all of a sudden the clothes come off and I’m like, ‘What are you talking about? You’ve gotta save that!’ I have this real masculine-feminine thing; I’m not really that sexy – I get all made up and then I like to be a tough girl. I didn’t even wear high heels till I was in my thirties! To me, [stripping off] is so boring. Not to say that I don’t think a sexy picture can’t be beautiful.
SM: Can we talk about your wardrobe? When you moved into your house, I remember coming over. You showed me it and we were literally screaming – you were like a little kid.
GS: I need to clean it out more often – I get attached to things. I keep all my costumes. I have all the amazing Harajuku stuff.
SM: Favourite video outfit?
GS: I love the older stuff – the polka-dot dress in Don’t Speak. I’d had it for years before I wore it in the video. I’d bought it on the road and it had this musty smell that you couldn’t get rid of. And I love the tennis bra in Just a Girl – I get sentimental about those clothes.
