Maroon 5 have released their new album V‘s cover and track listing, which has “My Heart Is Open” listed as the final track.

Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine spoke with Billboard about the band’s upcoming album that will include “My Heart Is Open”, their confirmed collaboration with Gwen, co-written with Sia.

Valentine said that he can tell fans are already excited for the track and tells Billboard that Adam Levine (lead singer of Maroon 5 and fellow Voice coach) “won’t shut up about how cool [Gwen] is as a person”. He refers to Gwen as an “idol” and said it was really cool to have her on their upcoming album.

V is due out on September 2 and Adam also described the song as “beautiful” and “special” saying “it’s one of those songs that feel classic… it feels like a song that could have been out 15 years ago.”

Billboard — Valentine also expects some excitement for the track “My Heart is Open,” which was co-written with Sia and features No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani, who’s joining Levine on the upcoming season of “The Voice.”

“Living here in Los Angeles we’ve known Sia for a long time, back from when she was just an artist, before her second act as, like, the most brilliant pop songwriter of all time, so it was really cool just to work with her,” says Valentine.

No Doubt, he adds, influenced Maroon 5 predecessor Kara’s Flowers. “It’s cool for all of us to have her on the record. And Adam won’t shut up about how cool she is as a person. A lot of times when you meet your idols it’s a letdown, but it’s the opposite case with Gwen, apparently.”
