Interscope CEO Confirms Gwen Is “Hard At Work” On New Album

grr

In a new interview courtesy of Hits Daily Double with Interscope CEO John Janick, he confirms that Gwen is still hard at work on her album though it was planned for a Q4 (fall/winter) release last year. Both Gwen and Kendrick Lamar were scheduled for releases last year but he says that the delays are “nature of the business.” Kendrick released his latest album earlier this year.

Janick says that Gwen is working extra hard on her album and that she is “making sure everything is coming together the way she envisions it.” “When the creative process is at work, you don’t want to force something that’s not ready. Both Gwen and Kendrick are people you know you can trust with that process—only they know when it’s done.”

There is no timeline on Gwen’s album as of now but sources are expecting it later this year. With all the rumors of Gwen heading back to The Voice for season 9, the timeline seems like it would work out in her favor for promotion. We’re wishing Gwen and her team the best on her album and we hope to share more news soon.

  1. Rosie pointed out that a sidebar lists Gwen’s album among the expected 2015 Interscope releases. So there’s hope it may be released this year.

  2. I wonder if Gwen’s album will be an exclusive to Apple Music/Connect? I guess it could be an interesting move.

  3. I’m sure when all is said and done she’ll have a lot of stories to tell on how this album came about. I’m just glad this time are around she is taking her time n not allowing other folks to do the bulk of the work because it clearly wasn’t working.

  4. But yeah, I’m fine. She’s still in hard work and I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. As like me she needs to find the right time to get the things to work well.

  5. KIND OF ME.. its so sad WE WONT EVER AGAIN GET A HUGE HIT SUCH AS IN 2005 the HOLLABECK G3L. massive hit, ALSO GWEN DOESNT WANT TO GET SEXY .. BUT FULL OF CLOTHES AND OLD FASHIONED IRISH ONES.. GWEN DONT U LOOK BACK VIDEOS SUCH AS HOLLABACK GIRL, WHERE YOU! SHOWED ALMOST EVERYTHING.. AND THIGHT…COME ON GWEN UR WERE HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT THAT GWEN BACK NO THIS BORING ONE WHO ONLY CHANGES HER HAIR STyle AND THATS IT.

  6. As long as this album turns out better than BDL and STF I am totally fine with waiting for it. I just wish there was a little more information about this whole process. I’m still not sure how much control Gwen actually has considering the 500 producers and songwriters that seem to be working on this material since early 2014. I know she had lots of help with L.A.M.B. and TSE too, but this time around it seems like they just keep adding all these random people to the list…

  7. YYY, I also agree at least with LAMB &TSE, even with all the help she got she was still the one with the vision and directions with the albums…BDL & STF it was painfully obvious she was not…. I hope its a massive hit for our girl though

  8. I actually think that for STF she knew what she wanted and got it. That’s why I prefer it over BDL cause it represents her. Now if people are tired of that sound it’s a different story.
I also don’t think it was just her label telling her to take more time for the album. Gwen knew she was rushed and after such a lukewarm reception maybe she decided to focus and put her heart into it. Maybe it’s a good thing she didn’t release it last year. Tbh I wasn’t expecting a solid album before, but now I’ll probably be disappointed (lol) if she doesn’t deliver and release a great album.

  9. Gwen panics if her songs don’t become a hit and she’s had difficulty generating creativity/inspiration for song writing for years so.. I would also love it if she wrote all her own songs and really made it a Gwen Stefani project but I’m not getting my hopes up. It’ll be [insert hip producer] featuring Gwen. It is just a double downer when the songs aren’t great AND they don’t become hits (STF was a low point for me). Like at least make that sh*t create buzz so Gwen can afford to keep on making (better) music.

  10. A more stripped down / pour-your-heart-out kind of album would be a nice move for her actually. She shouldn’t care much about sales these days, but hey… I’m down for whatever she decides to release. I’m confident her new album will be great!

  11. She’s been working on this album for a little over a year. Relatively speaking that really isn’t very long.

  12. …its just all the stop and go on top of the total lack of communication that has made watching this era play out very frustrating for fans. Also the mess with the roll out with BDL and STF.
It’s great news that the album is still happening! The possibility of it being shelved and then endless silence felt very real last month.

  13. When you think about it, 1 year, 1 half a year isn’t that much. I guess we’re getting used to get things for yesterday and that’s a bad thing. Just to think that interscope wanted to release this album in December. That’s fucked up.

  14. I don’t expect it to be successful, but I do want a solid album with her inner voice and creativity involved. She should also do a proper tour because we’d all like to hear those songs again.

  15. Yeah especially at this stage you’d expect a more solid album. Even though many people disregard TSE album, it was still a great album. If the new album is near as good I’ll be pleased.
