In a new interview with Weekender, Gwen shares that she’s planning on releasing new music later this year in 2017. She says that she’s been in the studio and is having “so much fun”. Gwen didn’t divulge any details on what she’s exactly working on, but she’s definitely grabbed our attention. Most recently she’s been spotted heading into a studio with Blake Shelton but notably mentioned on the red carpet of the Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards in March and said that she was back to writing and recording.

“I’ve been working on new music, which I’m so excited to release this year. I can’t say too much about it just yet, but I’ve had so much fun in the studio. My cartoon series, Kuu Kuu Harajuku on Nickelodeon is going into season 2 and will be available worldwide. The Kuu Kuu Harajuku toy series is launching in US, Canada, Australia and Israel in July/August this year.”

Gwen also spoke about her excitement for season 2 of Kuu Kuu Harajuku which just premiered on Nickelodeon last week and the release of the Mattel doll line available now.

  1. hmmm…I hope I’m wrong, but at this point I’m almost 100% sure it’s gonna be a country album with Blake or something similar.

  2. I’m glad Gwen putting out more music! I’m guessing it’s going to be pop, hip hop sound. I think this is why No Doubt hasn’t made any new music because Gwen musical taste is vining with a different sound.

  3. I think I’ll survive if Blake is featured on one of the tracks… (I can easily delete it…) but if it’s a duets album I’ll give it a hard pass.

  4. Gwen has promised new music before that never got released eventually so… I don’t know…

I’d take another pop album any day, but I don’t really need more songs with Blake.

  5. Really interested to see what this might sound like. The Blake-inspired lovey-dovey stuff Gwen has done isn’t my favorite, and I’m not very interested in any collaborations between them. But looking forward to whatever she winds up releasing!

  6. I would love an album with tons of variety! Maybe a few leftovers, a few fun new ones, a couple solid ballads…I wouldn’t mind a song with Blake, but it needs to be not over emphasized on the album. No matter what, I am so excited!!!

  7. Crossing fingers and toes that it’s true. I’ll take anything from her and I’m very happy to see how happy she is.

  8. There are a lot of people on her twitter and Instagram that love her with Blake. I really liked their duet. Too bad they didn’t release it as a single.
Maybe her inspiration is from living a different life when she is inOklahoma. Nature, the water, peacefulness of it all it all as opposed to the state of turmoil before.
Really miss seeing her tour this summer.

    1. @Jill those people probably don’t follow her since No Doubt or don’t care about what made her career unique in the first place.
Maybe a collaboration or two with Blake would be fine, but a whole album? Gwen’s roots are in ska and quirky pop, not country, a genre I’m sure hundreds of her fans don’t approve….I’m all for her being happy and finding peace, but why does it have to be at the expense of good music?

Sure L.A meant turmoil and heartbreak but also way cooler music and aesthetics and everything that Gwen was about. Oh well, we’ll see Tbh he plastic surgery, the ugly clothes, singing No Doubt songs in her solo tour and Blake have been enough to not expect anything remotely great…

    1. I saw! I’ve always wanted a holiday album from No Doubt so I’m pretty psyched. I’m one of those people that listen to Christmas music all year. 🙂

  9. “Never Kissed Anyone with Blue Eyes Before You” REALLY?????? It’s great that she’s writing new songs. But frankly what title is this? Sometimes it sucks to be so repetitive about Blake. She was not like Tony or Gavin. There are times when there is no more fun, no more news.

    1. Where’s that mature Gwen from the days of No Doubt? Now she only lives the shadow of Blake, only country that matters at the moment. Where did rock, ska, punk, reggae go?

  10. I think you should post about the leaked songs. Y’know sometimes it’d help if interscope saw some feedback from fans. You never know if they’ll get released at some point.

  11. I’ve got an idea. You could do a post with all the (rumoured) unreleased songs including LAMB and TSE eras, and suggest a B-Sides album release?
