Gwen Not Returning to ‘The Voice’ for Season 11 (Updated)

Though Gwen is confirmed to be skipping out on season 11 this fall, a source close to Yahoo shared that she “likely” may return in spring 2017 to the show.

It’s official: Gwen will not be returning to The Voice for season 11 this fall. For the first time ever, The Voice will feature two female coaches, Miley Cyrus and Alica Keys, alongside original and returning coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Pharrell Williams will also be stepping away from the show for the season.

While nothing was ever confirmed, fans are noticeably bummed about the news but this means that Gwen will have more time to focus on her album and more projects in the near future. Since she is such a huge part of The Voice family, we wouldn’t be surprised if she returned for a future season.

  1. I’m not bummed. It did its job putting her back on the map, but it’s time to move on. Maybe she might be able to put together a North American tour now! 😀

  2. Honestly, I think she is in danger of being too overly exposed if she comes back esp with the Blake thing goin overboard in the tabloids. I think she deliberately didn’t not want to come back for the fall season to give sufficient time to promote and possibly tour this year in some capacity.

  3. Gwen loves being on The Voice but with a new huge solo album out, I think it would be best for Gwen to have the time to make a big deal out of this new solo era with tours, travelling all over, performing across the world! I know that would be difficult because of the kids/school etc but now Gwen knows again how well she’s loved around the world, it might inspire her to go for it another time!

  4. I think it’s a smart move. The Voice is on almost year round, year after year, and will eventually lose steam just like American Idol and every other reality competition that is played into the ground. It was a successful run for her but I wouldn’t mind if she didn’t return in the future.

  5. I’ve seen this article several times over the last two days but it hardly provides any solid information from an actual representative from the Voice. I don’t believe this article is anything more than a rumor or any better than other gossip rags.

  6. I’m sure rumors will continue to swirl, but all we know for sure is that Gwen won’t be on next season (which is fine by me).

    1. I agree, and I personally think it’s so cool Gwen seems so well liked and loved by the general audience that she’s become a topic now since she’s first appeared on season 7.

  7. I won’t get my hopes high anymore… I kind of accepted the idea already, what’s bothering me is that someone said on twitter that they had a tv ad bragging about all their big name coaches/advisors and they left Gwen off.. I haven’t seen it, but if it’s true it pisses me off cause Gwen loves the show so much and they’re despising her.. I was 100% sure that she would perform there this season but now I have no idea… Hopefully it’s all fine and she will.

  8. Agree, I hope she still at least performs and that Blake does his Came Here to Forget song.
I saw a release by NBC saying Gwen is considered part of The Voice family, which I take as she could possibly come back at some future time.

  9. I know this is a Gwen/ND site, but I hope this means that Miley has some new music she’s planned to promote while she’s on the show! As long as they invite Gwen to perform whatever her current single is next season (and especially later this season), I’ll be fine.
