Gavin Bond, popular rock photography, is holding his first exhibition in London showcasing his photos from over the years — and Gwen will be featured! Gavin shot the band back in 2004 for their Entertainment Weekly photo spread. The exhibit runs from February 23 to March 21at the Idea Generation Gallery in London.
These photographs of rock’n’roll royalty, taken by the celebrity photographer Gavin Bond, include shots of The Killers, Gwen Stefani, Grace Jones, Katy Perry and Girls Aloud.
The British-born photographer manages to take candid photographs of the stars without losing any of their glamour. Often his subjects are portrayed in exaggerated version of themselves, or else he presents another side of their public persona.
Bond, who is based in New York, is a graduate of London’s Central St Martins College of Art and Design. He is also a top fashion photographer, and he moves easily from the studio, to live performance and portraiture. Right now he is on tour with the American rock band Green Day, as their personal behind-the-scenes photographer.
These pictures of everybody from U2 to Kings of Leon and Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell – there’s even an unusual studio shot of The Who’s Roger Daltrey kneeling down to rip a hole out of a floor – will go on show in London’s Idea Generation Gallery, in his first exhibition of music photography in the UK.
Most of these photographs were taken in 2008 and many of them have never been seen before.
‘Gavin Bond: Music’ is at Idea Generation Gallery, London, from 23 February to 21 March (Ideageneration.co.uk)
