Gwen Covers FASHION Magazine for March Issue (Updated)

Gwen is gracing the March issue of FASHION magazine due out on newsstands February 16. In the article, Gwen discusses her new album (including a “little bit a reggae track” titled “Lifting You”), learning how to write songs, having no fashion regrets and her relationship with sexuality.

Gwen talks about a brand new song “Lifting You”, which she calls “cute” and a “little bit a reggae track.” She mentions her collaborative song with Sia, “Start A War”, saying “its about not picking a fight in a relationship.” Gwen also explains why it took her some time to put music out on her own again. “I took so long to come back because I was trying to be really free and just put out music that isn’t so try-hard and not so thought out.” Her new album was expected to be out this past December but she wanted to slow down the process and write again. She confirms that she’s worked with Ryan Tedder, Calvin Harris and Charli XCX.

On finding her inspirations as a songwriter, Gwen reflects on her break-up with Tony in 1993 that helped her find her calling. “It was the first time I knew I could write music. I wasn’t writing it because I wanted people to hear it. It was only until I got that hurt that I found out I have a power in me. It allowed me to be creative. After that, the pressure was on—non-stop. I had to create.”

Gwen says that she has no fashion regrets and how everything she’s worn in the past reflected her in the moment. “Somebody just showed me a picture of me at an MTV awards red carpet and I was wearing this blue fur bathing suit top. Right away, I was like, ‘yup, I know why I wore that’—I had just gotten off a two and a half year tour with No Doubt and felt like I needed to break free. How can anyone regret wearing something? I never do.”

On her sexuality, Gwen admits that she’s never been comfortable with it and she discovered it on her own at age 14. She calls it a “gift” and thinks that women are “interesting creatures.” “I won’t be doing any topless photo shoots anytime soon. It’s not my thing. I didn’t even wear high heels until I was 30 years old.” Gwen takes pride in never really having to use her body sexually to make a statement and thinks its important “to evolve outside of your sexuality to entertain people.”

  1. LAMB, you’re completely clueless about Gwen Stefani and who she is or what she represents in the world of Fashion. Sometimes I doubt you know anything else besides Hollaback Girl. Stop wearing those blinders.

  2. I really don’t want Gwen working with Ryan Teddar anymore. Listen to Madonna’s Hold Tight. Remind you of anything? He has a history of this.

Lifting You sounds promising and I’m eager to hear Start A War too.

  3. Was that song produced by Ryan Tedder? Omg I’m listening to it now and it’s like the sister of Baby Don’t Lie. Creepy!

  4. I’m really tired of this sound. It’s been done to exhaustion. One of the reasons I was never a huge fan of BDL.

  5. Aww I love those phatty pants! A throw back to the TK days we love and miss. Seriously guys how can you knock 90’s fashion coming back and at the same time complain how she has changed so much..
