Gwen and Tony are included on VH1’s list of the Top 50 Musical Muses citing the breakup that inspired the lyrics to “Don’t Speak”.

Legendary frontwoman Gwen Stefani wrote this breakup song about her ex-boyfriend Kanal, who also happened to be her bandmate. We can’t imagine how awk this situation must have been for her — performing next to the guy who dumped you after seven years! — but at least it spawned one of the biggest smashes of the decade!—T.W.
