Day two! Today we are looking back at Gwen’s second L.A.M.B. showing, her Spring 2007 presentation at New York Fashion Week. The presentation took place on September 15, 2006 at the Industria in New York City. A lot of famous faces were there to see another peek at Gwen’s growing fashion endouver. Gwen looked super glamourous at the event — even after giving birth to baby Kingston only a couple months before. And we got our first glimpse at the lovely line of handbags that we are still obsessed with today!
Fashion Blast — With the arrival of Spring 2007 comes a new collection of handbags from Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. design label. They are already causing quite a stir among handbag fashionista’s and it’s rumored that Nordstrom is taking pre-orders for these fab bags.
There are two lines within the L.A.M.B. collection, Signature and Love, and a total of 33 different styles. We have a particular fondness for the Signature collection with it’s logo-printed canvas has a muti-colored hue. The canvas is coated which makes it durable and shiny. The bags are trimmed with full grain leather and gold plated hardware.
Animal prints! Scarface inspired blonde wigs! Let the show go on! Though there was no catwalk and only a few insiders and the press were invited, L.A.M.B. was again a highlight for the season.
Style — Is Gwen Stefani the Tory Burch of the downtown crowd? Both hired the MisShapes to deejay their presentations, and both presented heaps of cool items that their fans will want to snap up come spring. Dressed in a long, languid black gown with trademark leopard print at the sleeves, Stefani talked about her touchstones for spring, chief among them being Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface. That explained all the blond-wigged models. Jamaican Rude Boy attitude and “global-inspired” prints, referencing Guatemalan, Indian, and Japanese textiles, rounded out the list and kept things from getting too high-concept, though. Tracksuits (one had a side stripe that read, “Are you L.A.M.B. enough?”) were surefire hits, as always, but the long evening looks were attractive, too. A new line of bags—some ladylike in blue and white, others with a red, yellow, and green ombré pattern—and footwear—from “disco” shoes to L.A.M.B.-emblazoned boots—accessorized the show. Overall, Stefani’s spring line (developed with Zaldy Goco), was kicking.
What did you think of the Spring 2007 line? It’s awesome cause it brought us right into the The Sweet Escape era and we had something to look forward too. Plus, did we mention the debut of her highly loved handbag line and shoes! What are some of your favorite items from this collection? Stay tuned for day three of continuing Fashion Week tomorrow! We are having a lot of fun doing these posts, remembering and hearing your stories!
