Gwen first mentioned “Shine” during a radio interview in September 2014 and revealed that it was a new track that No Doubt was recording with Pharrell Williams. In the coming months, it was announced that “Shine” would be included in the US release of the film Paddington as a Pharrell and Gwen duet. Though not released on the film’s official soundtrack (and has yet to have a full release), Harvey Weinstein shared a clip of the song to positive reviews. “Shine” is included in the film’s credits in most domestic releases outside of the UK.

“Spark The Fire”

Written with Pharrell Williams while on set of The Voice in the summer of 2014. Gwen first teased the single on the radio which gave “Spark The Fire” immediate buzz prior to its release in December. Gwen calls “Spark The Fire” a “defining moment in my life”. She says that Pharrell and herself kept discussing what was going on behind-the-scenes in her life and decided to put it all on paper. “The intro of the song really says it all and it talks about a really up-to-date statement of where I’m at, where I want to go, and how I feel about this time in my life. It’s interesting for me because I’m on a journey. I’ve gone through so many different phases of myself and now I’m in a new chapter.”

“Together” (with Calvin Harris)

Co-written with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, “Together” is classic Calvin Harris EDM and was featured on his latest album Motin released in October 2014. Gwen has since taken on the track herself and “Together” has been included in her recent live sets.


“Carousel” (re-worked version) (Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams)
Originally written during The Sweet Escape sessions and was revealed to have been re-worked with Pharrell Williams for her new album.

A somber ballad written with Sia confirmed by Gwen for her new album. She describes the song as, “its about not picking a fight in a relationship.” Gwen debuted the track live during her MasterCard sponsored show in Los Angeles on February 7.
